Threat actors have infiltrated the New York Post’s official X account, using it to send fraudulent messages to cryptocurrency subscribers. The hackers posed as journalist Paul Sperry, inviting users to participate in a purported podcast via Telegram. Security experts, including Kerberus CEO Alex Katz, flagged the scam on May 3, 2025.
The deceptive direct messages read: ’We’re lining up new guests for our podcast and would love to feature you in an upcoming episode.’ This incident highlights growing concerns about social media account security in the crypto space, where trust and verification are paramount.
